Mitch Guist of Swamp People: Commemorating a Louisiana Man

The recent news about Mitch Guist of Swamp People fame is just saddening. I’m sure that he will be missed by many, but warmly kept in the hearts of Louisiana people.

Mitch Guist was a Louisiana man, through and through. That’s what I enjoy about the show Swamp People. Long ago, I learned that I don’t need expensive clothes, trim haircuts or an extravagant home to be happy. I just need to be happy. Happiness for me is achieving goals and experiencing life, then sharing those things with family and friends. I don’t need a $60,000 bay boat to enjoy Louisiana’s waters, I just need a simple aluminum flatboat. I don’t need the latest in Express designer wear to look and feel good, I just need my shrimp boots and favorite T-shirt. Okay, I should wear pants, too. You get the point.

Mitch Guist was a rich man, that lived his life well and spent it happily with those people that mattered to him. I only wish that when I die I can look back and see that I have done the same thing.
