It learns or it gets the hose again!

That addiction, the craving, the totally irrational desire for hoards of speckled trout is like a metaphorical deep hole we are held prisoner in.

But there is escape…we must learn.

Tilapia?! Ewww!

Why is Tilapia pushed so hard? It’s such a “crappy” fish, no pun intended. Uhm, hello? We’re America…right? We have the world’s best natural resources and we’re importing the fish-meat equivalent of cardboard to serve in our restaurants?

Feautured Guide on ProGuideDirect

Hey everyone, looks like I’m starting to make it into the Big Leagues! Ok, maybe not quite, but you should check this out. I’m a feautured guide on ProGuide Direct. A lot of gear they have on there is gear I chose and wear when I am out fishing the marshes and bays of Louisiana’s estuaries. While I almost always buy gear from local businesses, I have an affiliate partnership with ProGuide Direct that helps support my business. So please, by all means, when you buy gear and apparel, buy it from ProGuide Direct and don’t forget to list Captain Devin of Swamp Stallion Fishing Adventures as your preferred guide. Thanks much and have fun browsing!

Got gas?

It’s about that time of the year. That time of the year where we as Louisianans, in conjunction with everybody else on the Gulf Coast, will be nervously watching the coast of Africa and the Atlantic for hurricanes. Yessir, if you don’t have stabilized gas on standby, then know that maybe now is the time to get that squared away.

Captain Devin also has emergency fishing rods in case the water comes up to his driveway.

I fish for that elusive silver thing, or whatever you want to call it…speckled trout, spotted sea trout, cynoscion nebulosis, spotted weakfish, whatever. I fish for them so much that I have standards as to what makes a good trout fishing experience. One of them would be catching trout two at a time.

Mr. Trout had the last laugh as Captain Devin stepped barefoot in his...

Why is this such a big deal? Because it shows what a great bite you’re on. If the trout are in that much of a frenzy, then you found a good school of trout from which to harvest your limit.

Note the two different colors.

If you really are on the trout bite of the century, the trout WILL NOT CARE what you throw them. Looking at the above picture, you can see Matrix Shads of two different colors. They ate them up all the same.

I love it even more when my customers catch two trout in one cast!
